Psychiatric Nursing and Mental Health

Course Description: This course is designed to equip students with the competencies required for a psychiatric nurse who provides care to individuals with mental health conditions and their families. The course focuses on maladaptive behaviors in both health and illness. It also emphasizes the importance of ethical and legal issues relevant to the field of mental health nursing and the care of psychiatric patients.

Objectives of the course :

1. Discussion of the different principles underlying psychiatric and mental nursing practice.
2. Discussion of the main theories explaining mental illness. .
3. Explain the different manifestations of psychological disorders. .
4. Discussion of therapeutic methods used in the treatment of psychiatric patients. .
5. Evaluating the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses displayed by adult patients in relation to various psychological conditions. .
