The aim of this course is to:
1. Enabling the student to connect the basic concepts and theories of mechanics of materials with the actual behavior of material samples during practical tests.
2. Developing the student's ability to perform the necessary preliminary calculations before executing laboratory experiments.
3. Training the student to estimate experimental variables and parameters related to mechanical tests.
4. To equip the student with the skill of using laboratory devices and equipment correctly and safely.
5. Enhance student understanding of the impact of engineering solutions and their applications in professional and societal contexts.
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identifying the types of loads acting on materials and their associated failure modes.
Familiarity with mechanical testing procedures and the equipment used to measure the mechanical properties of materials.
3. Description and analysis of the stress-strain behavior of materials under tensile loads.
4. Description and analysis of the buckling and deflection behavior of short and long columns under the influence of compressive loads.
5. Measurement and Calculation of Deflection and Stress in Simply Supported Beams.
6. Determine the stress distribution in thin-walled and thick-walled cylinders. .
7. Prepare clear and organized engineering reports that include drawings, data, graphs, procedures, results, and conclusions.
