Manufacturing Methods Lab

Course Description: This course covers an in-depth study of manufacturing processes including various casting processes, metal forming, sheet metal forming processes, basic measurement techniques, and material cutting processes. Laboratory experiments will be conducted on these topics, and laboratory results will be analyzed and interpreted, compared with numerical/analytical results, and technical reports will be written for each experiment.

Objectives of the course :

The ability to use and understand various measurement techniques.
Familiarity with the procedures and equipment required for various manufacturing operations.
3. Familiarity with various casting processes (sand casting, permanent mold casting, investment casting, lost wax casting).
4. Measuring and calculating the various factors used in the bending, shearing, and deep drawing of sheet metal.
5. Measurement and calculation of plastic deformation stresses and strains in metal forming processes.
6. Familiarity with different material cutting techniques and the cutting tool materials used.
7. Machining time determination and estimation, material removal rate, and power consumption in turning and milling operations.
8. Preparation of clear technical engineering reports including graphs, experimental steps, results analysis, discussion, and conclusions.
