General Pathology

Course Description: This course covers the fundamental principles of general pathology, focusing on the mechanisms of disease development and the associated cellular and tissue changes, including inflammation, cell injury and death, circulatory disturbances, wound healing, tumors, immune diseases, and genetic and environmental diseases, linking pathological changes to clinical and laboratory manifestations.

Prerequisites: ANAT212
Objectives of the course :

1. Introduce students to the basic concepts of pathology and the mechanisms of different disease development.
2. Understand cellular and tissue changes associated with inflammation, cell injury, and growth disorders and tumors.
3. Developing the ability to interpret microscopic pathological changes and correlate them with clinical and laboratory findings.

Course outputs :

• Explains the basic mechanisms of inflammation, cellular injury, cell death, and tissue repair.
• Distinguish between circulatory, immune, and genetic disorders and their mechanisms.
• Explains the pathological characteristics of benign and malignant tumors, their stages of development, and spread.
Analyzes microscopic and pathological changes in tissue samples and correlates them with clinical and laboratory diagnoses.
