Clinical Parasitology

Course Description: The course covers medical parasites causing human diseases, including protozoa and helminths, along with the study of their morphological forms, life cycles, transmission routes, pathogenesis, laboratory diagnosis, treatment, and prevention methods, in addition to practical training on identifying parasites in various clinical samples.

Prerequisites: MDL 240
Objectives of the course :

1. Introduce students to the types of parasites and the relationship between the parasite and the host.
2. Study of the morphological features, life cycles, and transmission routes of pathogenic parasites.
3. Developing sample collection and parasite diagnosis skills using various laboratory techniques.

• Describes the morphological characteristics and life cycles of medically important parasites.
• Applies sample collection, preparation, and microscopic examination techniques to diagnose parasites.
• Interprets parasite test results and develops the appropriate differential diagnosis.
