Pathology

Course Description: The pathology course provides students with comprehensive and organized information about the diseases of various systems in the human body, at both the macroscopic and microscopic levels. The course addresses the pathogenesis of diseases in different body systems, including their causes, pathological changes, morphological characteristics, and clinicopathological correlations related to various clinical conditions. This science focuses on applying acquired knowledge and skills to develop problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

Objectives of the course :

1. Provide students with basic knowledge about the mechanism of pathological processes affecting various body systems, with a special focus on etiologies, pathological manifestations, and complications.
2. Developing students' skills in correlating histopathological findings with the clinical basis of diseases, emphasizing the role of histopathological examination in disease diagnosis, management, and prognosis.
3. Enable students to identify the most appropriate and cost-effective pathohistological diagnostic procedures.
4. Assisting students in acquiring the skills necessary for future professional competence, such as leadership, teamwork, and continuous self-learning.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding
– Identifying the basic mechanisms underlying diseases affecting different body systems (causes, clinical history, pathogenesis).
- Description of morphological (gross and microscopic) changes, prognosis, outcomes, and complications that occur as a result of these pathological processes in various body systems.
• Skills:
– Identification of various histopathological lesions when examining gross specimens, which display gross and/or microscopic samples.
– Predict signs and symptoms of the disease based on gross and microscopic tissue changes. .
