Clinical Mycology

Course Description: The course focuses on the study of human pathogenic fungi, in terms of classification, morphology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations, in addition to laboratory diagnosis methods, treatment, and prevention of fungal infections.

Prerequisites: MDL 240
Objectives of the course :

1. Identification of pathogenic fungi and their medical importance.
2. Study of fungal diseases, their transmission methods, and diagnosis.
3. Training students on laboratory techniques used in medical mycology.

Course outputs :

• Describes the characteristics of fungi causing human diseases.
• Correctly collects, transports, and processes samples for fungal diagnosis.
Applies microscopy, culture, and fungal identification techniques in accordance with safety procedures.
