Fundamentals of Medical Genetics

Course Description: This course covers the fundamental principles of medical genetics and its applications in health and disease. It examines the structure and function of genes and chromosomes, gene expression mechanisms, mutations, and monogenic and multifactorial genetic disorders. The course also explores modern laboratory techniques used in diagnosing genetic diseases.

Objectives of the course :

Introduce students to the basics of medical genetics and the structure and function of genetic material.
Understand different patterns of inheritance and genetic and chromosomal disorders.
