Fundamentals of Microbiology

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of microbiology and the impact of microorganisms on human health and the environment. The course also provides an overview of microbial structure, morphology, classification, genetics, nutrition, growth, and unique metabolism. Additionally, the course covers important aspects of virology, mycology, and parasitology. The practical component includes laboratory techniques, methods, and equipment used for the study and identification of microorganisms.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to enable oral health students to describe the general characteristics, structure, classification, growth, and reproduction of viruses, fungi, and parasites. It also aims to explain the sterilization and disinfection methods used to control the growth of microorganisms, in addition to identifying the morphological forms, growth, physiology, metabolic pathways, and genes of bacterial cells.
