Course Description: The course deals with the provisions of eligibility and personal status, such as marriage, divorce, wills, inheritance, and guardianship, according to Islamic jurisprudence and Saudi regulations, linking them to judicial application.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to equip students with knowledge of the provisions related to the family system, particularly engagement and its rulings, marriage, and divorce, in accordance with Islamic Sharia. It also covers provisions of legal capacity, the actions of minors, and disabilities of legal capacity. Furthermore, it aims to develop the student's jurisprudential skills to enable them to understand the jurisprudential and legal opinions in force regarding personal status matters in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to become familiar with the provisions of the Personal Status Law. It also seeks to employ comparative methodology in light of comparative laws and legislations, as well as familiarizing students with the rulings on wills, inheritance, and guardianship.

Knowledge and understanding:
1. The student will learn the concept of engagement, its types, conditions, and reasons for withdrawing from it.
2- The student clarifies the types of marriage contracts and the ruling on each type.
3. The student shall explain the reasons for and types of divorce in Saudi and comparative jurisprudence.
4- The student will become familiar with the provisions related to (eligibility and guardianship, wills, and inheritance).
5. To know the concept of inheritance, its pillars, the rights related to the estate in jurisprudence and law, and how they are ordered.
Skills:
The student applies the skill of solving real-world problems using jurisprudential principles and legal rules.
2- The student shall compare divorce, judicial divorce, and annulment and their resulting effects.
3. The student shall analyze the provisions and conditions of guardianship and trusteeship.
4- The student distinguishes between the conditions of a will and the annulments of a will.
5- The student can distinguish between the rulings of heirs by fixed share and by residue.
