Private International Law "In Depth"

Course Description: The course explains the relationship between private international law and nationality and domicile, and clarifies how to determine the applicable law and apply national conflict of laws rules.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

The objective of this course is to introduce the student to and familiarize them with the concept of Private International Law and its direct relationship with nationality and domicile. It also aims to familiarize them with the regulatory provisions concerning conflict of laws and international judicial jurisdiction, how to determine the applicable law through rules of assignment, and how to determine the competent court to consider disputes. Furthermore, it aims to clarify the legal status of expatriates and introduce the residency and passport system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
1- The student should become familiar with the terminology of private international law and discuss its topics.
2- The student classifies the rulings of private international relations.
3. To explain jurisdiction and international jurisdictional conflicts. .
Skills:
The student can distinguish between the revocation of nationality, the withdrawal of nationality, and deportation.
2. The student will analyze the general theory of conflict of laws and international judicial jurisdiction.
3. The student shall apply the mechanism for implementing foreign judicial orders and judgments before the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
