Course Description: The course includes textual reading and analytical study of original primary sources.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

The student will identify and compare Usul sources, and differentiate between classification methodologies in Usul al-Fiqh.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
1- The student will learn about the concepts of reading, its types, methods, approaches, and skills.
2. The student reviews the concepts of a comparative contract, comparing what is read with one of the foundational books.
3. The student will enumerate methods of textual interpretation in the sections on legal ruling, ijtihad, and taqlid, from Usul al-Fiqh books representing different schools of thought and doctrines.
4. The student summarizes the author's statement, and identifies their methodology for critique and analysis.
Skills:
1- The student outputs Usul al-Fiqh terminology
The student reads the foundational texts according to the correct methodology for analysis.
The student distinguishes between types of text reading, their methods, and their approaches.
4. The student compares what they are reading with a foundational book.
