Course Description: The course includes an introduction to languages and semantics and their relationship to Sharia evidence. It reviews scholars' methodologies in classifying them, with an expansion on the divisions of word meaning in terms of usage and method of indication, as well as particles of meaning and their indications. .
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: ISF 142
Objectives of the course :

a. The student should know the importance of the Arabic language, the meanings of its words, the methodologies of scholars in its classification, and the mujtahid's need for it in order to understand the legislator's intent.
b. The student should understand the reality of speech and concept, their types, and the ruling on using them as proof.
c. The student distinguishes between particles and their meanings
d. That the student can apply the meanings of words in religious texts

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
The student knows the importance of the Arabic language, the connotations of words, the methodologies of scholars in its divisions, and the need for a diligent scholar to understand the intent of the Lawgiver and deduce rulings from religious texts.
The student will identify the meanings of literal and figurative language, their categories, and their impact on Islamic legal rulings.
