Foundations of the political system in Islam

Course Description: The course "Foundations of the Political System in Islam" (SALM 104) is one of the four Islamic culture requirements adopted within the Bachelor's program at Qassim University. The Department of Dawah and Islamic Culture at the College of Sharia is responsible for teaching it and administering the final exam, while the course instructor conducts the midterm exam and evaluates student work throughout the semester.

Objectives of the course :

Statement and clarification of the concept, foundations, rules, and some legislation of the Islamic system of government since the establishment of the Islamic state.
The student's realization of the importance of Islamic jurisprudence, its comparison with other systems, and avoiding the dangers of falling into extremist systems.
• Raising student awareness regarding the foreign policy of the Islamic state and its standards of dealing with other countries.

Knowledge and understanding:
The meaning of the Islamic political system, Shura, globalization.
It identifies the pillars of the state in Islam.
The research foundations are evident in the history of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and the disputes that occurred among them.
Islam's position on globalization.

Differentiates between the Islamic political system and secular systems.
It deduces the most important rules of governance in Islam.
Distinguish between Shura and Democracy.
A comparison between the state during the time of Abu Bakr and the state during the time of Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).
Specifies agreed-upon and disputed guardian conditions.
Differentiates between the Islamic political system and secular systems.
Values, autonomy and responsibility:
The student must adhere to the Sharia methodology in dialogue with others.
The student applies Islamic values in their interactions with all segments of society, both Muslim and non-Muslim.
