Course Description: This course focuses on the Age of Exploration at the dawn of modern history, the discovery of the New World, European voyages to what would later be called North America, the formation of European colonies there, the ensuing conflicts over land and resources, and interactions with indigenous populations. It then examines the emergence of nascent union among these colonies, which ultimately led to the formation of the United States of America. The course will explore how this nation built its internal systems and subsequently emerged onto the world stage as an influential power, eventually becoming the preeminent global superpower on multiple levels.
