Rashid caliphs

Course Description: This course examines the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs through study, research, and analysis, based on scientific and legitimate foundations. Its importance stems from the topics it addresses, which include: the status of the Companions, the sources of their history, the methodology for dealing with historical reports concerning them, the concept of the Rightly Guided Caliphate and its characteristics, and understanding the personalities of the Rightly Guided Caliphs and their virtues. It also covers how they assumed the caliphate, their deeds, and the conditions of the Islamic State during their era—administrative, economic, urban, scientific, military, and civilizational—as well as the conquests in their time, their governance methodology, and internal strife (fitan), such as the Riddah wars, the assassination of Uthman, the emergence of the Kharijites and Shia, and the Battles of the Camel and Siffin. Additionally, it extracts lessons and morals from all these events and addresses some of the misconceptions raised about this period of study.

Objectives of the course :

Knowing the history of the Rashidun Caliphs and their era, from the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him, until al-Hasan ibn Ali’s abdication of the caliphate to Muawiyah; examining the civilizational achievements and efforts made by the caliphs and companions to spread Islam and preserve the Islamic state; following their example; being aware of the reality of the events and tribulations that occurred according to accepted historical reports; taking pride in their history; extracting lessons and morals from the events; possessing the skill to refute and discuss certain weak reports and suspicions raised against them; while acquiring skills in analysis, deduction, correlation, comparison, and sequencing.
