Environmental assessment

Course Description: The course contributes through its scientific content to an understanding of environmental assessment mechanisms, based on scientific criteria that ensure the quality of geographical processing, and the identification of natural or human environmental sites. It trains students on methods and foundations for applying environmental suitability and assessment. It also provides training in field work according to students' specialization interests. The course involves the study and analysis of the environmental impacts of development projects and activities, through understanding the stages of preparing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies, data collection and analysis tools, methods for predicting negative and positive impacts, and proposing mitigation and environmental management measures to achieve sustainability principles.

Credit hours: 3

Objectives of the course :

1- Introducing the student to environmental assessment methods and technical requirements related to environmental impact assessment studies
Training on environmental assessment foundations, standards, and techniques.
Detecting and preventing harmful environmental practices.
Continuous training in design, presentation, discussion, and critique methods for field data in environmental assessment.
5. Review some field experiences in environmental assessment. Analyze the results of environmental assessments for geographical or environmental sites and their suitability.
6. Elevating the student's environmental field quality by completing an applied project in which they apply environmental impact assessment.
To equip students with the ability to scientifically evaluate and analyze the environmental impacts of various projects, and to make decisions based on systematic foundations that support environmental protection and sustainable development.
