Historical geography

Course Description: The course aims to introduce the concept of historical geography and its role in reshaping ancient geographies and their continuous development. It will cover Pleistocene changes and successive climate changes. The course will also study the ancient geography of water networks, sand dunes, lakes, salt marshes, and the plant and animal worlds. It aims to familiarize students with human civilizations that flourished during the Quaternary Holocene period.

Objectives of the course :

A general definition of historical geography, its function, research methods, and understanding the development of the natural environment during the Quaternary period and ancient civilizations.

1.1 The student understands the concept of historical geography and explains its main concept. .
1.2 The student describes the role of historical geography in reshaping ancient geographies and their continuous development.
1.3 The student enumerates research methods in historical geography and their methods for calculating past time.

2.1 The student uses GIS and remote sensing tools to interpret Pleistocene climate changes and subsequent climate changes in the Quaternary geological period.
