Geography of the countryside

Course Description: The course aims to introduce rural geography and its relationship with other branches of geography. Criteria for distinguishing between rural and urban areas. Natural and human factors influencing the size and shape of villages. Land use in rural areas and the relationship between the village and the city. Identifying rural settlement patterns and rural housing. Rural planning and development, and rural problems, with case studies from rural Saudi Arabia.

Objectives of the course :

Introducing the student to rural geography, including the difference between it and urban geography, the factors influencing the shape and size of villages, the most prominent problems facing rural development, and how to invest in Saudi rural areas for tourism.
