Fundamentals of Engineering Technology

Course Description: The course includes plumbing, welding, blacksmithing, plastic molding, and metal cutting. The course includes a practical part with hands-on experiments, industrial visits, and mini-projects in workshops, precision measuring instruments, hand tools, lathes, conventional machining tools such as lathes and planers, drills, milling and shaping machines.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to introduce students to the following:
1. Manufacturing concepts including different manufacturing processes, plant layout, and industrial safety.
2. Engineering Materials, Material Properties, and Testing.
3. Industrial ovens.
4. Various heat treatment processes.
5. Common hand tools and machines found in the workshop.
6. Training students to use common measuring tools in the workshop.
7. Training students to use common hand tools and machinery in the workshop.

Course outputs :

1.1 Understanding and applying safety rules in the workshop.
1.2 Common cold equipment, operating machinery, measuring tools, and welding equipment found in the workshop.
1.3 Mention common manufacturing processes and heat treatment processes.
1.4 Description of Common Metal Testing Techniques.
2.1 Operating the lathe machine.
2.2 Performing measurements using common measuring tools found in the workshop.
2.3 Execute basic workshop tasks including metal cutting, threading, and welding.
