Course Description: This course covers the various aspects of the uses and applications of commercial banks by focusing on the importance of commercial banks, the historical development of commercial and central banks, and the role of the central bank in supervising the activities of commercial banks through financial ratios specific to banks, such as liquidity ratios used to measure legal reserves and cash liquidity, as well as capital adequacy ratios and other ratios to monitor the activities of commercial banks. Students will also learn about the sources of bank financing, their problems, and possible solutions. Additionally, students will become familiar with the traditional and modern functions of banks, the process of money creation in traditional and Islamic banks and the differences between them, and their relationship with the central bank. The course also addresses Islamic banks, their activities, and how they are supervised. It clarifies the concepts and entities of the banking environment and outlines contemporary directives for this banking environment.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to introduce the student to commercial banks, their functions, role, and importance, as well as the relationship between conventional and Islamic banks and the central bank, in addition to enabling the student to apply analytical techniques to monitor bank activities through the use of financial ratios.
After completing this course, the student will be able to:
1. Defines the basic concepts related to commercial banks, their tasks, functions, importance, and the nature of commercial banks.
Explains the fundamental concepts related to the basic characteristics of deposits of all types, the concept of discounting, and the management of the legal reserve by the central bank.
3. Applies fundamental concepts related to data analysis techniques to monitor the activities of conventional and Islamic banks through the use of specific bank financial ratios.
4. Works within a team to discuss course-related topics
