Maintenance of garment machinery and equipment

Course Description: The Clothing Machinery Maintenance course (FAD263), worth 2 credit hours, covers the maintenance of various types of cutting machines and sewing machines used in the garment industry. It explores different types of maintenance (preventive, periodic, and corrective) by identifying the various parts of the machines and the function of each part. The course also covers the disassembly and reassembly of different drive mechanisms related to stitch formation and the fabric feeding mechanism under the machine, and specifies the types of oils and greases used for machinery maintenance.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to maintain cutting machines, and various industrial and domestic sewing machines, by understanding the different parts and the function of each part in performing its role in the production process.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding
– Understand the concept of maintenance, and the location and functions of the maintenance department in a garment factory. .
– Defines different maintenance methods and types (preventive, scheduled, corrective).
- Identifies common knitting stitch formation problems and their solutions.
Skills:
Equipment and tools are used in the maintenance of machinery and equipment in garment factories.
- Some parts of ready-made garment manufacturing machinery have been changed.
– The drive mechanisms of the stitch formation groups and the fabric feed mechanism under the machine are disassembled and reassembled to form the locked stitch through the relationship between the needle or hook.
Values, autonomy, and responsibility
Inspect the machine parts to determine the cause of the malfunction and how to fix it.
- Inspect the set of mechanical parts for the needle movement.
– Examine the mechanical parts group for the crochet movement and the lower feed dog (feed comb).
