Creating and implementing children's clothing models

Course Description: The Children's Clothing course (FAD252) is taught at the third level with 3 credit hours. It covers the evolution of children's fashion throughout different eras, clothing needs for each stage of child development based on their characteristics, factors influencing the selection of children's clothing and materials in terms of functional aspects and their importance in meeting a child's needs, care for children's clothing through instruction labels and selecting appropriate detergents, and furnishings for a child's room. It also includes using scientific and artistic methods to create a piece of children's clothing according to average child size charts by utilizing ready-made patterns, using basic pattern drafting methods and adapting them to the model with appropriate finishing and embellishment.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to study the characteristics and features of children's clothing while identifying the appropriate clothing needs for growth characteristics during childhood stages and the influencing factors when choosing and purchasing children's clothing, taking into account the standard specifications when selecting them, methods of care, analyzing the functional and aesthetic aspects of its designs, and training on the preparation and implementation of different models of children's clothing, whether by using ready-made patterns or by drawing patterns according to the size chart, with the use of finishing and embellishment techniques according to the appropriate fabrics for each different stage of the child's growth.
