The basics of children's fashion design

Course Description: The "Foundations of Children's Fashion Design" (FAD231) course, taught at the third level with 2 credit hours, aims to equip female students with the skill of drawing educational mannequins that reflect the changes associated with growth across different age groups for both genders. This is achieved by following proper steps for drawing children's fashion, including accessories and design variations, in accordance with design elements and principles. The course also explains the impact of different material textures and analyzes the works of international children's fashion designers.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to identify the physical growth of the child at different age stages with the determination of the body proportions of the mannequin, the elements and principles of design for children's fashion, explaining and analyzing the vocabulary of clothing and the works of international children's fashion designers, with training on drawing children's fashion vocabulary according to the proportions of the child's body measurement for different age stages with the variables of designing the vocabulary of children's clothing (underwear - outerwear) according to the elements and principles of design, and the requirements of the process of designing children's fashion.
