Course Description: The course "History of Art 1 (FAD221)," taught at the third level with 2 credit hours, addresses the significance of art and its role in the growth of civilizations. It highlights the aesthetic and creative values that ancient artists explored in various art forms and the characteristics of these arts throughout their historical stages (Primitive Art, Ancient Egyptian Civilization (Old Kingdom – Middle Kingdom – New Kingdom), Roman and Greek Civilization, Mesopotamian Civilization, Islamic Civilization).

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to introduce students to the concept of art as a means of expression, the origins of arts and their connection to social life on one hand and to faith on the other, through reviewing artistic production (from primitive man in ancient times - the ancient Egyptian civilization - the Greek and Roman civilizations - the civilization of the Mesopotamian lands - the Islamic civilization), and to identify the artistic characteristics of these arts, appreciate them, and recognize the artistic and aesthetic values they embody.
