Course Description: The Textile Dyeing and Printing (FAD173) course, worth 2 credit hours, covers the process of dyeing and its stages, and the nature of the relationship between dyes and fibers. It includes dyeing cellulosic fabrics with direct, reactive, and vat dyes, and dyeing synthetic fabrics with disperse dyes. The course also studies the concept of textile printing, the coloring agents and thickeners used in printing, as well as manual and digital printing methods. Practical training will be provided on dyeing natural and synthetic fabrics and on manual and digital printing techniques.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to study the dyeing process and the relationship between dye type and cellulosic and synthetic fabrics, and the printing process using appropriate colorants and thickeners for each method of hand and digital printing, and to become familiar with laboratory methods for dyeing and printing fabric samples using various methods.
