Knitting Machine Technology

Course Description: The Knitting Machinery Technology course (FAD162), studied at the second level with 3 credit hours, covers the types of machines and equipment for spreading, cutting, and ironing. It also covers industrial knitting machines (straight stitch – overlock – blind hem – button sewing – buttonhole sewing), types of needles, threads, stitches, knit fabrics, and various machine accessories, as well as the application of scientific and technical methods when executing samples representing sections of garment products.

Prerequisites: FAD 161
Objectives of the course :

The course aims to familiarize students with garment manufacturing machinery and equipment, including folding, cutting, and pressing machines. It includes training on operating industrial sewing machines (straight stitch, overlock, blind hem, buttonhole, button sewing machines), and sewing samples of sections from different garments.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
– Describes raw material inspection and spreading machines and equipment – Stages of fabric spreading and requirements of the fabric spreading process – Spreading equipment.
– Cutting tools and machines are classified according to their degree of automation, with an explanation of the scientific basis for classifying knitting machines.
– Variety of stitches, knits, and production methods.
Skills:
- Analyze the fundamental defects of knitting processes.
Scientific and technical methods are applied in button assembly using an industrial sewing machine.
Cloud samples of all types are assembled using industrial sewing machine attachments.
– Pocket sample types are executed.
– Implement rebate samples of all types (simple, hidden).

– Responsible for operating and efficiently handling the latest knitting machines with digital control panels.
