Knitting techniques

Course Description: The Knitting Techniques course (FAD161), taught at the first level with two credit hours, covers the types of cutting and knitting tools. It includes implementing samples on various materials measuring 20x20 cm using a regular needle and lockstitch, stitch type 301 (plain stitch). Consideration is given to material thickness and type, appropriate thread type, tension, stitch length, needle size, presser foot type, and the presser foot's pressure on the material.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to introduce the types of tailoring and sewing tools, as well as the home sewing machine, its parts, accessories, and how to thread, operate, and adjust it according to the type of fabric with different stitches on samples of different fabrics, and to be responsible for its use and maintenance.

Skills:
– Hand embroidery stitches and raised embroidery types (French) and flat embroidery (English).
– Attach the bias tape to the neckline and armhole edges in two ways (standard, factory).
– Masters pleats and folds of various widths.
Machine attachments are used for sewing all types of buttons, making buttonholes, and monogramming.
Mastering the application of bias tape to the front and back neckline with an opening at the center front and adding a cording (fabric-yarn).
