Common epidemic diseases

Course Description: This course will provide students with a sufficient understanding of the key issues related to the control and prevention of infectious diseases. Students will learn to identify the causative agents of infectious diseases, how to determine their spread, and key control strategies.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: CMD 324
Objectives of the course :

1. Key epidemiological features of major human infectious diseases.
2. Evaluating strategies for preventing pandemics or the endemic transmission of major human infectious diseases.
3. Study emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases to understand their critical epidemiological characteristics that can be used to develop prevention and control programs.

Course outputs :

• Describe the principles and concepts of different types of infectious diseases and their causative agents, how these diseases spread, what their causes are, and in what environment they live.
• Identifying available methods for preventing and combating the most common infectious diseases in childhood and adulthood, and determining their prevalence in the community.
• Application of research methodologies and statistical analysis techniques to investigate infectious diseases.
• Utilize appropriate technology and data management systems to identify infectious diseases.
• Engage in effective teamwork and communication, fostering collaboration and involving diverse stakeholders in infectious disease prevention and control.
