Course Description: This course introduces parametric and non-parametric statistical methodology, including descriptive measures, frequency tables, elementary probability, score transformations, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, common non-parametric methods, sampling distributions, and elementary chi-square analysis. Practical examples of the underlying theory are also presented.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

1. Understanding the basic concepts of statistics and their applications in public health.
2. Drawing charts and determining the shape of distributions.
3. Identify measures of central tendency and dispersion.
4. Correctly and appropriately transform data and practice probability problems.
5. Understanding sampling distributions and sampling error.
6. Interpretation of statistical significance statements regarding the correlation coefficient.
7. Answering research questions related to a population parameter or parameters based on sample data (statistical inference).
8. Interpretation of statistical analysis outputs generated by computers for research purposes.
