The main objective of this course is to teach students the following:
1- Effects of High Voltage Surges on High Voltage Grids.
2- Surge Overvoltage Protection Equipment.
3 Methods of Earthing Systems and the Importance of Earthing.
4- Concept of Breakdown of an Insulating Medium.
5- Different types of high-voltage tests for various electrical power system components.
6- Knowledge of high-voltage generation methods.
* Explanation of different breakdown theories for dielectric media (gaseous, liquid, and solid), the effects of overvoltage, and methods of protection against them.
Designing appropriate tests and grounding systems for high-voltage equipment.
Evaluation of different circuits used for generating high voltages (DC/AC/Impulse).
* Clarification of local and international standards used in the design of grounding systems and the testing of high-voltage components.
