Course Description: Theory and operation of transformers and their equivalent circuits; generation of AC voltage, three-phase synchronous generators; equivalent circuit of synchronous machines; performance of synchronous motors; equivalent circuit of three-phase induction motors; speed control of induction motors; fundamentals of DC motors; characteristics of DC machine terminals.

Objectives of the course :

• Introduce students to the fundamentals and concepts related to the operating principles and construction of transformers (single-phase and three-phase transformers), generators, and synchronous motors (three-phase induction motors and DC motors).
• Introduce students to transformer performance and testing.
• Provide knowledge of the synchronous machine's construction, excitation system, and operating principle as a generator.
Learn the basics of three-phase induction motors, their construction, equivalent circuit, and classifications.
• Learn the performance characteristics of the induction motor, losses, and efficiency.
Learn the basics of DC motors, their construction, equivalent circuit, and classifications.
Learn the performance characteristics of DC motors, losses, and efficiency.
