Course Description: Construction, operation of single-phase transformers, equivalent circuit, voltage regulation, efficiency, autotransformers, and three-phase transformers. * **Fundamentals of AC Electrical Machines:** Concept of rotating magnetic field, induced voltage, and torque. * **Synchronous Generators:** Equivalent circuit, phasor diagram, voltage regulation, single operation, synchronization, and parallel operation. * **Synchronous Motors:** Theory, steady-state operation, motor characteristics, and motor starting. * **Synchronous Machine Dynamics:** Swing equation, steady-state stability, and transient stability.

Prerequisites: EE 203
Objectives of the course :

1. Teaching students the concepts, operating principles, performance characteristics, and control methods of transformers and synchronous machines.

2. Preparing students to deal with synchronous transformers and generators in power plants and substations in terms of operation, maintenance, control, and performance development.

3. Enable students to deal with synchronous motors as important drive means in the fields of industry, mining, and transportation.

4. Covering some introductory topics for subsequent advanced courses in electrical machines, electric drive systems, and electric power systems.
