Upon completion of this course, the student will have learned the following:
The fundamental concepts of Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws, and their applications in direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) circuits.
Using Kirchhoff's laws to simplify the analysis of electrical circuits.
Electrical circuit theories such as: Thevenin's theorem, superposition theorem, and maximum power transfer theorem.
Transient states in DC circuits.
AC circuit analysis.
Resonance in AC RC and RL circuits.
Resonance frequency, center frequency, bandwidth of resonance, and quality factor.
* Operating the transformer under both loaded and unloaded conditions.
Line-to-line and phase efforts in three-phase circuits.
* Applying and using engineering software and/or laboratory experiments to validate the design of a system, component, model, or process related to the field of electrical engineering.
Conducting experiments and investigations related to electrical engineering problems.
Study and analyze electrical engineering solution designs under different operating conditions using engineering software and/or practical experiments.
Technical laboratory report preparation, as well as conducting oral discussions within the work team.
* Work within a team, and develop self-organization skills and behaviors associated with personal responsibility in time management as a team member or leader.
