Clinical practice for the heart and the elderly

Course Description: This course is a clinical rotation in which students observe and apply evidence-based assessment and treatment methods under full and direct supervision (100%) of patients in the fields of cardiology, respiratory medicine, and geriatrics. During this course, students are permitted to train in general hospitals, where training sites provide ample opportunities to practice patient assessment and treatment procedures before and after cardiac surgeries in accordance with evidence-based practices, following the patients’ consent. Students also manage a variety of cases involving older adults and patients with respiratory disorders and problems, after obtaining their consent. These clinical experiences expose students to different age groups and levels of healthcare and enable them to apply appropriate professional safety procedures and standards during clinical practice.

Developing the concept of scientific thinking and scientific methodology in dealing with patients in the fields of cardiology, respiratory medicine, and geriatrics.
