Course Description: In geriatric physical therapy, physical therapists help older adults regain mobility and reduce pain associated with disease or the natural aging process. This course aims to introduce students to the fundamental principles of physical therapy for common conditions in the elderly. Students will also learn to identify age-related disorders and apply principles of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular examination and intervention to older adults requiring physical therapy services, taking into account age-related diseases and expected physiological changes with aging.

Objectives of the course :

Identifying age-related disabilities and disorders.
Familiarization with methods of evaluation and examination of physical therapy for elderly patients.
Understanding the different physical therapy methods and interventions used with the elderly.
Evaluating the effectiveness of physical therapy methods and techniques used in geriatrics and internal medicine.
Understanding physical therapy techniques in managing various internal medicine conditions and contributing to reducing age-related changes in bodily systems.
Providing assistive devices and aids for elderly individuals experiencing balance and stability issues.
