Advanced Topics in Physical Therapy for Playground Injuries

Course Description: This course aims to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of physical therapy for sports injuries. It covers advanced examination and assessment methods for various injuries and conditions associated with sports activity, in addition to the principles of therapeutic exercise prescription and determining appropriate training dosages for injured athletes. The course also focuses on employing clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of sports injuries, contributing to the improvement of functional performance and accelerating a safe return to sports activity.

Objectives of the course :

“1. Identify appropriate assessment methods and therapeutic intervention techniques, and apply them in managing musculoskeletal injuries in the field of sports physical therapy.
2. Design and development of appropriate plyometric exercise and strengthening programs for injured athletes according to the different rehabilitation stages.
3. Identify clinical tests and scales and interpret their results to determine the athlete's readiness for a safe return to sports activity and competition.
4. Selecting and applying appropriate screening criteria and therapeutic controls for various training methods used in sports physical therapy.
5. Describe the roles of the members of the multidisciplinary health team and select appropriate screening tools to support the comprehensive and integrated management of the injured athlete.”
