Introduction to Physical Therapy Skills

Course Description: This course aims to build knowledge and skills through evidence-based practice necessary to introduce students to assessment processes by helping them begin to assess the strength of the upper and lower extremities, neck, and trunk muscles, the range of motion of all body joints, and to measure and document the length and circumference of the upper and lower extremities.
Credit hours: 4
Objectives of the course :

1- Acquire the necessary knowledge about the scientific foundations of measurements and documentation.
2- Explanation of the principles of manual muscle testing, joint range of motion assessment, and anthropometric measurements.
3. Safely and effectively perform various manual muscle strength tests and assess the range of motion of different joints.

Course outputs :

1.1 Define core concepts and theories of muscle testing interventions for managing various conditions encountered in physical therapy.
1.2 Description of the procedures for various muscle testing techniques necessary for disease assessment and health promotion.
2.1 Practice various muscle examination techniques safely and effectively in different diseases and disorders, and use different muscle examination devices for assessment in a safe and effective manner.
2.2 Demonstrate problem-solving skills in evidence-based physical therapy for various conditions.
3.1 Demonstrate the behaviors required for competent professional practice, including teamwork and continuous self-learning skills.
