Economic Development and Planning in Saudi Arabia

Course Description: This course covers the fundamental concepts of development theories, growth, and economic planning. It includes an introduction to the evolution of economic thought, linear and structural models of economic development and growth, as well as the concept of economic planning, its objectives, types, and success factors. The curriculum also encompasses the Saudi Arabian economy, focusing on the stages of its development, its economic structure, the petroleum sector, the labor market, the Saudi Vision 2030 economic plan, national economic transformation programs, and the future of the Saudi economy.

Prerequisites: ECON120
Objectives of the course :

After completing this course, the student will be able to:
1. Definition of basic concepts related to planning, development theories, and economic growth.
2. Analysis of elements related to planning, development theories, and economic growth.
3. Application of economic development and growth theories.
4. Demonstrating team skills in preparing development reports and the economies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
5. Familiarity with the social responsibility of some different economic development institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

1.1 Recognizes the basic concepts related to economic growth and development and their relationship to economic planning.
1.2 Explains and describes scholars' opinions on models and theories of different developmental stages and theories of development.
