Resource and Environmental Economics

Course Description: This course aims to clarify the foundations of resource economics of its various types by focusing on economic analysis and economic theory in describing resources, identifying their characteristics, classifications, and uses, in addition to methods of developing and conserving them and the economic impacts of natural disasters. It also focuses on renewable and non-renewable resources, explains the concept of the environment and its economics and its relationship with pollution and sustainable development. It also emphasizes human resources and their relationship with other economic resources, and the literature of population growth. With an appendix of some economic models.

Objectives of the course :

Deepening the understanding of what resources are and their different classifications: human, natural, and manufactured, through the following points.
1. Explanation of the basic controls for resource exploitation.
Introduce students to problems related to resource depletion and environmental issues.
Clarifying the relationship between the abundance of economic resources and sustainable development.
4. Educating the student about the consequences of the misuse of natural resources and the resulting problems, such as the depletion of natural resources, food shortages, scarcity of fresh water, and environmental pollution.
5. Developing students' abilities in teamwork skills and environmental reporting.
6. Deepening students' ethical dimension when dealing with various resources and the environment.
7. Familiarity with social responsibility related to resources and the environment.
