Computer Applications in Economics

Course Description: The course includes a presentation of the fundamental principles and concepts related to advanced economic models and their applications using specialized software, particularly EViews. The course focuses on practical application to equip students with the skills to use these advanced tools for estimating economic models with data and deriving results related to the relationships between economic variables. The course also specifically focuses on time series analysis, stability tests, forecasting, cointegration, autoregressive models, and Granger causality tests to identify the direction of relationships between economic variables in the short and long term, as well as dummy variables, structural breaks, and an introduction to panel data.

Objectives of the course :

Upon studying this course, the student will be able to:
Definition of basic concepts related to economic variables and data types
• To equip the student with the ability to appreciate advanced models and recognize their testing methodologies.
• Equipping students with skills for appreciating advanced computer models using Eviews software.
• To equip the student with the necessary critical thinking skills by presenting an economic problem, offering solutions, and making an appropriate decision based on available data.
