Pediatrics and Applied Nutrition for Oral Health

Course Description: This course generally aims to introduce and educate students on the fundamentals of examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for various dental problems in children from infancy to adolescence. It also covers pediatric radiographic techniques, problems of tooth and jaw development, the development of normal occlusion, managing child behavior in the dental clinic, preventive procedures, and oral and dental health care for children and adolescents, including oral care for infants. Additionally, it addresses understanding various periodontal diseases in children. The course emphasizes the importance of accurate pediatric medical history taking, proper diagnosis, developing an appropriate treatment plan, and identifying behavior modification techniques used in pediatric dentistry. The course also equips students with knowledge related to the basic principles of nutrition and diet and their applications in caring for dental health patients. Furthermore, it focuses on developing the necessary skills to analyze dietary habits and provide dental nutritional counseling, especially in hospitals and dental healthcare institutions.
