Anesthesia under consciousness

Course Description: This is an applied course that covers the use and monitoring of nitrous oxide and oxygen analgesia in dental and oral health practice. The course includes understanding the equipment and supplies used in administering the nitrous oxide and oxygen mixture, infection control, troubleshooting, and safety procedures. It also addresses dental fear and pain in pediatric and adult dental patients, as well as the ability to calculate and document safe dosages for each patient and develop awareness of contraindications and adverse reactions.

Objectives of the course :

This course primarily aims to introduce oral health and dental students to various methods of conscious sedation, with a particular focus on nitrous oxide inhalation sedation.

To describe the stages of consciousness and levels of conscious sedation.

For the student to recognize the necessity of using nitrous oxide anesthesia in clinical cases.

To explain the use of local anesthesia and nitrous oxide-oxygen analgesia in oral and dental healthcare.
