Community Dental Health (3)

Course Description: The Community Oral Health (3) course aims to build foundational and advanced knowledge relevant to the prevention of oral diseases at the community level. It empowers students to acquire the necessary preventive knowledge, skills, and techniques to efficiently implement community-based oral disease prevention programs. The course includes community programs that allow students to provide preventive dental care services, such as health education, early detection of oral diseases using appropriate indicators, and confident and efficient application of fluoride gel. It also equips students with the necessary skills to diagnose dental fluorosis and determine its severity. Furthermore, the course helps students understand oral health care methods for individuals with special needs and organize appropriate programs for them. It enables students to competently apply pit and fissure sealants to address cavities on the molar surfaces. Various tooth brushing techniques are taught through theoretical and practical aspects, and students participate in supervised school-based tooth brushing programs. Intensive training is also provided on using different health education methods with target groups in the community to prevent oral diseases.

This course aims to equip students with the necessary skills to conduct oral health needs assessments using appropriate oral indicators, provide oral health education, and deliver preventive dental care through preventive programs for various community groups and in diverse community settings, including individuals with special needs.

Retrieval of theories and concepts related to the causes of preventable oral diseases and their prevention methods.

Description of the etiologies and clinical manifestations, as well as prevention and treatment methods for endemic oral diseases, with a special focus on dental fluorosis.

Remember the relationships between systemic diseases and developmental disorders and their oral health considerations within the framework of community oral healthcare.
