Course description : The course Studies in Dyeing and Printing (DESI727), which is taught at the doctoral level for the Ph.D. program in the design and embroidery of clothing and textiles at the third level, deals with the study of the physical and chemical properties of natural, synthetic and blended textile materials, the concept of dye, types of dyes, the mechanics of the dyeing process, chemical characteristics of natural fiber dyes (active - basins - acidic) and external factors affecting them, chemical characteristics of synthetic and blended fiber dyes (diffuse - cationic) and external factors affecting them, chemical characteristics of synthetic and blended fiber dyes (diffuse - cationic) and external factors affecting them. The concept of printing, areas of textile printing, how to prepare textile materials before the dyeing and printing process, the different methods of hand printing on textiles. Printing by direct drawing, woodblock printing, stencil printing, wax printing (batik), printing using wax (batik), printing using chablons, stages of print design implementation, colors used in manual printing, semi-automatic printing, automatic printing, quality standards in dyed and printed textiles, green dyeing and printing and its relation to environmental sustainability.
