Mattress design and production

Course Description: The course, "Furnishing Design and Production" (DESI723), offered at the doctoral level for the first semester of the PhD program in Apparel and Textile Design and Embroidery, covers all aspects related to the concept of furnishings and their types. This includes classifying types of home furnishings, the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of furnishing fabrics, principles for selecting floor coverings, wall coverings, and furniture upholstery. It also addresses key considerations when choosing furnishings for bedrooms, reception rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens, types of furnishing fabrics, the relationship between furnishings and furniture in terms of applying design elements and principles, selecting appropriate fabrics for various types of home furnishings, furnishing accessories, important types of materials used for filling furnishings, scientific and artistic methods for producing and finishing home furnishings, and methods for caring for home furnishings.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to introduce household furnishings, their types, and selection criteria. It will cover the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of household furnishing fabrics. The course will also study the specifications of textile materials suitable for various types of household furnishings in terms of (material type – color – drape), and examine different types of home furniture furnishings and their appropriate materials.
