Quality control in the apparel industry

Course Description: The course "Quality Control in the Garment Industry" (DESI717), taught at the third level of the PhD in Garment Design and Production program with 4 credit hours, addresses the importance and objectives of quality control for consumers, manufacturers, distributors, and the environment. It covers quality development concepts, the stages of quality within a factory, including basic departments, job and task division, and quality control elements. It also delves into international standards and specifications relevant to garment product quality, quality control in garment production stages, objectives of production quality control, quality control tests for fabrics, accessories, and garments, and green manufacturing in the garment industry.

Objectives of the course :

The course aims to introduce the standard systems and specifications concerned with the apparel product quality process, organizing the quality stages within the factory (main departments - division of functions and tasks - quality control elements), employing the objectives of quality control in ready-made garment production from fabric to the final product, collaborating with colleagues through participation and expressing opinions on quality systems and their implementation in the garment industry, utilizing the information network to search for new developments, especially those related to quality control in the garment industry, and green manufacturing in the garment industry.
