Advanced Pediatric Dentistry Clinics

Course Description: This course is designed to provide students with advanced information on different types of protective and interceptive devices, and to ensure they have acquired sufficient knowledge about various methods for managing difficulties they may encounter during the medical and physical treatment of children with disabilities.

Prerequisites: DENT 441
Objectives of the course :

• Description of problems with premature loss of primary teeth and how to use appropriate appliances to treat this problem.
• Explanation of the impact of bad oral habits on teeth, occlusion, and soft tissues, along with identification of devices used to eliminate these habits.
Understanding the causes and implementation of different behavioral intervention methods with children.

Course outputs :

Familiarity with different types of physical restraint for difficult children.
Clarification of the role of medications given before the start of treatment steps in controlling children.
• Understanding the importance of using sedatives and general anesthesia in pediatric dentistry.
