Advanced Orthodontic Clinics

Course Description: This is a seminar course that provides students with two credit hours at the graduate level for the orthodontics specialization program. This course offers in-depth information regarding the methods and rationale for collecting comprehensive information for orthodontic patients. It includes the analysis and interpretation of databases using the technique of cephalometric analysis and from different perspectives such as orthognathic surgery and facial pain. The derivation of a treatment plan from the database will be applied.

Objectives of the course :

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
• Assess the need for orthodontic treatment.
• Conducted an interview and examination of an orthodontic patient.
• Collection and analysis of a set of orthodontic diagnostic tools.
• Achieving appropriate goals for the patient that are proportionate to obtaining and maintaining long-term health and facial aesthetics.
• Create a prioritized list of problems for an orthodontic patient. .
Create a treatment plan for an orthodontics patient.
• Recognize the history of orthodontics and its impact on the current level of care.
Understand important scientific issues such as disease epidemiology and fact-based decision-making that inform orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning.

Course outputs :

• Recognizing the normal and abnormal growth of the dentofacial complex, including conditions that impede the patient's ability to function.
• Identifying the predisposing conditions. • Identifying which of them require immediate intervention or treatment to prevent the disease.
- Analyze and treat minor orthodontic issues.
• Recognize complex problems beyond their treatment capabilities and know when to refer the patient to a qualified orthodontist.
