Advanced Methods in Radiology

Course Description: A variety of medical imaging techniques have emerged in recent years and are rapidly evolving, such as Computed Tomography (CT), Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, and Digital Imaging. Dentists must adapt to these modern imaging techniques, as patients may be referred for these scans or present with existing images for consultation. Therefore, this course will focus on these imaging modalities.

Prerequisites: DENT 411
Objectives of the course :

Knowledge of different radiographic devices, both those that emit ionizing radiation and other types of energy.
• Understanding digital radiography detectors and their types.
Computer programs developed to process X-ray images generated by these devices.

Course outputs :

Understand the basics of CT and MRI scans.
• Understand the basics of cone beam computed tomography.
• Understanding the importance of new types of radiographic imaging in dentistry.
